This is a paradox or is it - your belief leads to your experience. That's what the gurus say.
For us ordinary mortals, we think our experiences create our beliefs.
So we put our hand over fire, burn it, and believe (learn actually) that fire burns. So don't touch it again.
The gurus on the other hand say that not everyone needs to burn his hand to learn. The ones who burn their hands do so because they have a belief system that attracts the burn.
The mechanism of the gurus is of course far more empowering because it puts the power of creating anything by changing your belief or by looking at things differently. The other mechanism is limiting because it stops you from having certain experiences because of beliefs formed by making judgments erroneously or out of limited information or knowledge or perspective.
I am now certainly convinced that our beliefs create our experiences, the good and the bad. And as our good old guru Sailaja would say, a belief is but a thought. And a thought can always be changed by some work - conscious and sub-conscious.
It is the most empowering thing I have ever heard.
