Thought for the Day - How to Reduce Intensity

It's rather simple. Intensity is what we get when we attach meaning and stuff to things by creating stories about them. Stories, symbols, narratives, dates, words, pictures - these are what add to intensity. Take them away and you're back to flatness.

Don't get me wrong. I am a big one for intensity. I like putting myself out there and saying ti, being it, finding ways to magnify the situation, to lighten the situation, to see fun or humour, to create a moment when none existed, to make meaning when the others don't see them - I like it. Maybe its just the writer in me dramatising stuff or maybe not but then intensity does add layers, does demand stuff. At times it wrings the soul out.

But there are times when people do not want intensity. That's when you take the foot off the accelerator. Stop making grand future plans, stop referring to past dates, stop magnifying small things and soon you realise life is back to placid again. A nice, dull sheen over it.

Enjoy it.

A beautiful thought, and so empowering too......to put agency into intensity.
