Wadjda - Movie

2012. Saudi Arabian film. Haifa al Mansour directed the first Saudi Arabian film to be directed by a female director. Reem Abdullah as the mother and Waad Mohammad as Wadjda, her feisty 10-year daughter give excellent performances. It's the story of how the young girl breaks stereotypes by wanting to ride a bike in a society where girls are taught not to laugh loudly or even speak loudly and hide when there are men around. I loved it because it gave me a great insight into Saudi Arabia - the place, the people. Very watchable.
