Mughal-e-Azam - Movie

1960. K. Asif's epic movie about Emperor Akbar's son Salim (later known as Jehangir) who falls in love with a courtesan Anarkali, and the ensuing war between the father and the son. They actually go to war, where Akbar defeats and captures Salim, incarcerates Anarkali and later sets her free. The story is folklore but there seems to be some evidence that Anarkali existed.

I watched the re-released version at Gokul theatre in the eighties. Now it made more sense. Prithviraj Kapoor as Akbar, Dilip Kumar as Salim and Madgubala as Anarkali. Finger licking stuff.
