Acts of Love - Two Friends

I was at the stationery shop. Two young boys. Both from humble backgrounds. Getting copies of model question papers. Dead serious about their preparation. The way they looked at the sets and arranged then, helped one another get them right. A deliberateness about it all. A flicker of a smile now and then.
I could see that dogged look in their eyes. They will give their best shot. They are giving it their best shot. And they hope against hope that the system will support their endeavours. That they will crack the IIT. The engineering exams. Get good jobs. In a system loaded towards the privileged. I can see they are not privileged. But they are fighting their battle. I could only send a prayer to the young lads.

And then they gathered their papers and left. More preparation to be done, papers to be solved, life to be lived, success to be achieved, promises to be kept. I just hope they remain as they are, whatever happens, and they can walk like this, drink a cup of tea, thirty years hence.

Same smile. Same innocence. Reminds me of some of my friends from that age. Lots of love to you kids.
