The Trial of the Chicago 7 - Movie

2020. Aaron Sorkin. Loved it. The tale of the real-life trial of the Chicago 7, a group of anti-Vietnam protestors charged with a conspiracy to start riots by an overactive state government bent on putting down any anti-Vietnam activity with an iron hand. The real incident happened in 1968 and the judge who had already made up his mind, conducts the proceedings in a biased manner, treating Bobby Seales, the only black man to be charged with savage discrimination, and finally finding them all guilty. They were let off later but the idealism of the youngsters - Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin (the hippie protestors), Tom Hayden and Rennie Davis (student protestors), David Dellinger, Lee Weiner, John Froines and Bobby Seales, in real life as well as the characters who portrayed them on screen, is compelling. Loved watching it.
