Mukhtyar is a sweet young man who loves heritage walks. I met him on many walks as a participant and he would give me information about other walks etc. He also showed interest in leading the walks and finally took the plunge. I signed up for his walk 'Gems near Charminar' when he told me he would take me to Makkah Masjid which I never had been to.

We started the walk at Gulzar Houz - the water fountain which was called the Cha Sau ki Hauz or something like that. It formed the cross roads from where one can see the four kamaans - Machli Kaman, Kali kaman, Sher-e-Batil Kaman and Charminar kaman. Mukhtyar explained why they were called what they were, took us from under the Sher-e-Batil kaman which originally led to the royal palaces and apparently had a spell which kept evil spirits away.

Now, this Gulzar Houz is where my friend Mohan would go to buy Maanja for his kites and he would take great pleasure in cutting off kites of unsuspecting and naive young people in teh colony with his superior manja.

We walked passed the kaman, turned left to the Mitti ka Sher, saw some dargah which specialises in exorcism from far.
