Acts of Love - Moments Between Brothers

The other day we were at the Hussaini Alam Ashurkhana on a Heritage Walk when two kids walked in - the older one would be nine or ten and the younger five or six. The younger one was obviously distracted and was looking here and there. But the older one stood next to me and palms joined, went deep into prayer, seeking something with his heart and soul. So deep, that I felt like reaching out to him and saying, whatever you wish for, I hope it comes true.

And then he came out of his prayer and lovingly ran his fingers through his younger brothers hair. And then went one step further - he bent down and kissed him on his head tenderly. A few moments later they left and I could see them going home - hand in hand.

And I could not but wish the very best and that they stay that way together with so much love for one another even as they grow up to be young men, middle aged men and old men. The love that older brother had for his kid brother and the way the kid received it - ah, will forever be etched in my mind.
