The Mangalore Diaries - The Heritage Walk by Myself

The Heritage structures in Mangalore are quite fascinating. An old school, a girls PUC college, a 1600 AD church and so on. Some that i cannot name too. So my morning walks would try to cover as many.
These were from two walks - one early in the day and another closer to 9 which is when the Cochin Bakery at Kankanaddy opens up. Our local expert and pyaara host Shrinjay (my nephew) suggested that the appam and mutton stew here was to die for. So my nephew Abhi joined me on the 4 kms walk, while my oldest nephew Ajay decided to take an auto. Shrinjay joined us so we all had a good time.

The Cochin Bakery was begun in 1939 by four brothers from Thalassery in Kerala and is credited with the first plum cake ever in India. Today their bakery has an amazing number of interesting tarts, pies, cakes  - of which their most popular item is the ghee cake. The first floor has a restaurant that serves great grub.

What we didn't expect was the coffee which was unbelievable good and consistent. We vowed to return soon to try some more.
