1962. Satyajit Ray. A family goes to Darjeeling from Calcutta in the hopes of sighting the Kanchenjunga but fail to do so even after 17 days. Many undercurrents in the family, a married daughter in an affair, a younger daughter who does not want to marry the rich prospect they have arranged for him. In the end, the mist clears for many but the patriarch who misses a clearly visible Kanchenjunga in his efforts to control everyone.
