Thought for the Day - Love and Truth

 Truth and love!

When there is no love, seek the truth.

When there is not truth, do it with love.

Thought for the Day - The Truth is Clear

Everything is qualified by the truth - which if we can be brutally honest - can be very clear.

For example, if I feel let down by someone (who comes late or something like that), I need to seek the truth.

What is it that is making me feel let down?

The person? The act?

The truth is that its neither the person nor the act that is making me feel upset - it's just my point of view that it is 'wrong' and that this person has 'let me down'.

The truth is that - its just my point of view that let me down. I let myself down.

In most cases that's what happens!

Thought for the Day - Be OK with Being Wrong and Things Flow

Our attachment to being right is a huge barrier to ease and flow.

Which is why, 'do you want to be right or do you want to be happy' makes immense sense.

All unease and upset is caused because we feel we are right.

If we accept and agree that its OK to be wrong, just be willing to accept that we could be wrong and its OK, things will flow with ease.

Our willingness to accept another point of view or that we may be wrong loosens the boundary. It's OK! So what?

Flow.

Ease.

Thought for the Day - Victims Cannot Find Solutions

When you see yourself as a victim you cannot find solutions. You can only see problems.

If you want to find solutions and get moving forward strop thinking like the victim, stop thinking 'why me' and start thinking how to correct things. This can start with looking at yourself, looking at what to correct (which is normally with yourself) and then you find ways to move forward.

In other words, if yo are stuck - you are looking at yourself like the victim.Get out of it! There are no victims.

Garudan - Movie

DCP Harish catches lecturer who has supposedly raped and strangled his student. Lecturer says DCP made a mistake. Years later he returns and reopens the case and wins it - and puts the cop into a lot of trouble. Who wins in the end and who is wrong is the big question?

Now, for a rapist lecturer to make big money for his client as easily would mean he would also be living it up instead of making life miserable by fighting a DCP, living an ordinary life and going to to doing what he did was hard to digest. Also some of the relationships seemed too contrived- like the lecturer's family which ditches him and then accepts him as easily.

Anyway, it kept it going until the end though it didn't tie in so well as a whole. Oh, and the Garudan is a tribute to the eagle like Keral police which I am sure they are. That was nice.

Mast Mein Rehna Ka - Movie

NP suggested this movie and it looked like a light hearted film so watched it. Lonely old Kannadiga man Mr Kamath keeps tabs on people around him and meets lonely old Punjabi lady Mrs Handa in lonely Mumbai and they hit it off and live it up- mainly by entering into lonely people's houses and drinking their beer. There's another track of a guy who is hopeless at everything who falls in love with a beggar girl - and also does unsuccessful thefts at people's houses (he mostly gets into situations where they find him).

In the end there is an airport scene where Mrs Handa is leaving and Mr Kamath is trying to reclaim her.

Shiva Invites Me to His Dance Program

So many of my students at the Dance Department at the University of Hyderabad invite me to their functions. I feel very embarrassed to go because I do not know the first thing about dance. But I go as and when I can.

Shiva - bottom right

Shiva and Srinu were two boys in an otherwise all-girl batch. Both quiet (Srinu specially so). In the recent alumni meet I met Shiva who told me that the marketing techniques we discussed in class helped him in growing his business and that now his dance classes were flourishing. I was glad it helped Shiva.

Shiva recently invited me to a dance program he had organised at the Ravindra Bharathi and I just had time to meet him, light the lamp and take my leave. I hoped to get back but my meeting got delayed and I could not.

But here's wishing you and your students and the institution all the very best Shiva and may all your dreams
